When you become a blogger, one of the most frustrating things that you are going to encounter is getting “real” people to read your blog. I have been blogging since 2011 so this is something that I know from firsthand experience. I remember searching for ways to increase my traffic and I have learned a lot along the way. Therefore, today I am going to share the free things that I do to drive traffic to my blog.
When I first started out, I spent a lot of time guest posting. Now, that I have more things added to my life I hardly guest post. However, guest posting is something that is very beneficial for your blog if you have the time to do it and do it correctly. When guest posting you have to make sure you are writing on blogs in your niche that have a decent following. When pitching to the blogger tell them the topic that you have in mind to see if they are interested. You will be turned down from time to time but it is nothing to become discouraged about.
If you run a blog more than likely, you have social media accounts that have a following. Make sure you use the accounts and do not just leave them sitting around empty. It may be hard to manage the accounts and take care of all of your other blogging responsibility but it is worth it. There are numerous apps available to help social media management be easier so make sure you utilize the apps and schedule interactions if needed. Social media networks bring me a huge chunk of my traffic and it does not take a lot of time and effort to promote through them. However, keep in mind you are going to want to interact with your fans because if you do not social media is not going to work in your favor.
When I first started out, I used to rely solely on giveaways to bring me traffic. If you have no products to giveaway yourself, you can join another bloggers giveaway in exchange for an entry. All you have to do is promote the giveaway on your blog and social networks and the other bloggers do the same, which sends more traffic to you. This traffic will convert to regular readers if you are in a niche such as reviews, moms, or giveaways.
Join forums that are in the niche of your blog and put a link to your blog in the signature section. You will have to be active on the forum to make sure that people are actually able to see your link. However, make sure that you are not spamming the forum. When interacting on forums make sure that you are writing meaningful things. This way the members will know you are a legit member and they will be more enticed to check out your signature links.
As a blogger, you visit numerous blogs each day. When you find a post that sparks, you interest comment on it with a meaningful comment. Usually, when you comment on blogs they allow a link to your site or a blog post. However, do not leave spam comments because you will just be wasting your time, as the blog owner is more than likely just going to delete it.
It is easy to boost your blog’s traffic and you do not have to invest any money at all to do so. However, once you get the traffic you have to give them a reason to stay. So, make sure you post regularly as it not only keeps readers coming back but it also helps you show up higher in the search engines, which brings you even more traffic. When working on boosting your blog’s traffic do not burn yourself out though. Take your time so you do not overwhelm yourself.
