There are numerous “mommy bloggers” publishing content throughout the web yet at the same time there are those who have failed to start blogging, despite wanting to, because they think that they do not have the skills or time to do so. Therefore, today I am writing up this article to encourage those moms out there who want to blog to get started because staring a mommy blog is not as hard as you think it is.
Step one – Purchase a Domain Name
If you have been thinking about starting a mommy blog more than likely you have some names in mind. So, write out your potential domain names from favorite to least favorite and then all you have to do is check them and see which ones are available.
When it comes to purchasing your domain name, I would suggest going with Bluehost. There signup process and setting up everything is general is very user friendly. The best part is if you get stick or have questions their customer support agents are available around the clock to provide you with prompt assistance.
Step two – Pick a Blog Design
Once you have your domain and everything set up from Bluehost you then want to move on to designing your blog. If you have reading my blog, Giveaways 4 Mom, since day one, you are aware that I have changed my design quite a few times, with both free and paid options. When first starting out I suggest going with a free blog them or hiring someone from Fiverr. Then, once you become more established and are generating income from your blog you can use your blog income to invest in a Premium WordPress theme.
Step three – Introduce Yourself
The next step is to start introducing yourself to your readers. Be sure to have a nice About Us Page and have a page that tells readers how to Contact you. Then, once that is done, start blogging about whatever it is that you were passionate enough about to want to get into this mommy blogging universe. Keep in mind that you want to make sure that you are unique with your blogging endeavors so you can stick out from the competition.
Step four – Get Social
After you have your website set up and have made some posts, it is time to get social. I suggest setting up blogging accounts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube (if you plan to do videos), Instagram, Pinterest, and Google Plus when first starting out. It may seem overwhelming but there are numerous tools to help you keep everything under control and WordPress plugins can help make the process go smoothly as well.
Step five – Interact with Other Mommy Bloggers
Interacting with other Mommy Bloggers is what has helped my blog become the success that it is today. Interact with them by commenting on their blogs, interacting on social media, or just going to their blogs and seeing what helpful tips, they may have for you. When you build up connections with other mommy bloggers, you will find that they can be very beneficial for you down the line, especially when you start generating income from your blog.
Step six – Research Blogging Tips
When I started my blog, Giveaways 4 Mom, I was a little ahead of the game since I already had a 1 ½ worth of experience under my belt as a professional online writer. However, when first starting with blogging with no other writing experience I recommend that you research SEO, how to write headlines, picture etiquette, generating income strategies, and anything else that you run across that is blogging related. This way you will be able to enhance and grow your blog, so you do not feel as though you want to give up blogging altogether.
Step seven – Be Consistent & Honest
Blogging consistently will allow you to gain a loyal readership. Your readers will become accustom with your posting routine and they will be eagerly waiting for your next update. Second, you always want to make sure that you are honest. Your readers will not give you their trust back so easily if they find out that you are not honest with them. Lastly, have fun and always remember why you started blogging and you will have a successful mommy blog in no time at all.
