Moms get frustrated and sometimes the phrases that come out of their mouths have a different meaning. This is the case with many commonly used phrases among parents. What kids don’t know is that most of the time, it’s a scare tactic just because mom is tired or frustrated. Moms need breaks too sometimes.
I Love You
When a mom says “I love you” she really wants you to know she cares. She also wishes that she’s making the right decisions and is doing the best for you that she can.
Don’t Make Me Come Over There
Moms get frustrated when kids act up. When this phrase is mentioned, it means she’s tired and just wants you to act right so she doesn’t have to scold you.
Because I Said So
Moms don’t always have the energy to argue or repeat themselves. It’s best to just stop when mom says no the first time. When she’s tired of arguing or has no more reasons why, it’s just because she says so.
Stop that Right Now
Every kid does something they’re not supposed to. Frustration sets in and mom wants the shenanigans to stop right then and there, it’s best to just listen.
You are just fine
Sometimes kids overreact to situations. When a child seems inconsolable from a scrape or toy breaking, she reassures them that they are okay and there is nothing to be concerned about. Things can be fixed and injuries heal.
Do you want a Little Cheese to go with that Whine?
Overdramatic children get a bit overwhelming. When mom knows that those are crocodile tears, her sympathy stops once the child continues to carry on.
I am the Mom, you are the Kid
Kids try to run the house. It happens everywhere. Sometimes kids need to be reminded of that. Parents make the decisions in the house, not the kids.
Let’s Try Not to Eat Off the Floor
If you drop food on the floor, throw it away. Mom will tell you not to eat off the floor because she has not gotten to sweeping, mopping or vacuuming that day.
Don’t make me turn this Car Around
Mom is really tired and doesn’t feel like going to the amusement park. When the kids act up in the car, it’s the best “threat” to use to get them to straighten up to enjoy their reward.
I Never Would have Gotten Away with that at Your Age
Perhaps she doesn’t remember what it was like to be that age again, but she knows her parents would have tanner her hide for trying to pull that kind of stunt. It’s best to just not stir the pot or do things that add fuel to the fire.
Mom language is easy for adults to understand but most of the time, it just frustrates the kids. Being a mom is tiring work and sometimes you just need to stop the chaos so you can relax. Some of these phrases will help you get a few minutes of peace and quiet.
