Affiliate marketing can be a great way for bloggers to make money off their blogs. However, when first starting out as a blogger, it may not be a lucrative option because affiliate marketing only pays you a percentage of each conversion or sale. If no one purchasing from your link, you don’t make any money. Some established bloggers avoid affiliate marketing even because they never seem to get any conversions on any of the offers that they promote. Therefore, today I am providing you with some tips to create the perfect affiliate blog post so you can see just how beneficial becoming an affiliate marketer can be for your blog.
Only Promote Companies You Have Experienced With
People can tell when you are genuinely referring a product or service. As bloggers, we all have a goal of generating some type of income from our blogs, but we have to remain honest at all times in order to be able to do so. Our audience is what keeps us writing each day, without them no one would be listening. Therefore, when you do add affiliate links to your posts, it is important to make sure that you are only soliciting sales for companies that you actually spend money faithfully with.
Readers are more likely to purchase from your links, if they see products featured numerous times throughout other posts or in various photos that you are taking on social media. I cannot tell you the number of times I have posted a product that I use that I invested my money in and someone asked me where they could purchase it themselves.
Use Photos That You Have Taken Yourself
While it is tempting to want to use photos from the company because of the quality, using your own photos will provide you with better results. This shows your readers that you actually have used the product or service that you are recommending to them, so you further gain their trust. I shop online frequently and I read other blogs. I can tell you that when I am searching for reviews, I look for real photos in the posts and not photos that look like they came directly from the brands website.
Real photos allow readers to see exactly what they can expect when the product arrives to their home. I usually share my photos on Instagram, since I write posts later after trying the product for a while, and then I use a plugin to share the photo in my post directly from my Instagram feed.
Provide Readers with Real Value
When you are encouraging someone to spend their hard-earned money on something, you need to explain the good, the bad, and the ugly. No one likes saying negative things about stuff (myself included), but people need to know what all they should expect, so they can make an informed decision. Besides, what may be a turnoff for you may not bother someone else. My best orders, unbelievably, have come from products that I have not personally liked.
If readers wanted generic content/descriptions about a product they can read that on the website where the item is being sold. You have to provide them with information that only someone who owns and uses the product/service would know.
Affiliate marketing is something that you have to work on. However, these three tips will help you jumpstart your success. Also, remember after writing your post, you have to actively promote it. Anyone can write up valuable content yet if it is not being put in front of readers no one is going to read it.
Bonus Places to Sign Up
Two places where I find my affiliate links at are Escalate Media and ShareaSale.
