Moms today have less time than ever for keeping track of what their kids are doing. With your hectic schedule, it can be difficult to know what your kids are doing online. Fortunately, there are some great tools to help.
Net Nanny is the answer to allowing your kids to surf the web without worrying about exposure to inappropriate content. For just $39.99, Net Nanny has completely customizable parental controls which allow you to tailor settings for everyone in the family. It blocks pornography and other content you don’t want your kids to see, while also documenting search and browsing histories so that you can look it over and find out what your kids are doing with their computer time.
For only $9.95 a month, uKnowKids helps you keep track of social media and text message usage. uKnowKids may be somewhat intrusive for older kids; you’ll need their passwords to monitor social media accounts, making it very difficult to implement if your kids aren’t willing to give up their account information. It may be more useful if you’ve got younger children who are just getting started with social media access and smartphones.
With Android, you can see call history, text messages, app usage, contacts and photos; while on iPhone, you’ll be limited to only seeing contacts and photos.
KizON is a wearable tracking device which allows you to monitor where your kids are, without hovering over them all the time. It allows you to set “safe zones” for your kids and lets you to pinpoint their location from your Android device. It also functions as a very basic cell phone that only calls specific numbers. It will be available in three different colors when it’s released later this year, and is designed to withstand vigorous play sessions.
MamaBear is a fantastic free app for iOS and Android and has loads of functionality. If your child has a smartphone, MamaBear lets you connect to their device and provides GPS tracking and monitoring of social media usage. It lets you determine if your teen driver is a speed-demon, or if your kids are in the car with someone who isn’t obeying the rules of the road. It also alerts you when it detects activity outside your preset parameters, including if your child has gone into an off-limits area.
