Since school has started, it feels like my world has shifted greatly. I had to change the way I do things since now the only time I have to do educational stuff with my boys is during the evenings after school and on the weekends. Even though we are only three days in, it has been a lot tougher than I imagined. Therefore, it is very important for me to make the nighttime count. Today, I am sharing what I do at night after the kids are in bed to prepare myself for the next day – well a few of the things anyways. Now, let’s get started.
Shower Right After They Go to Bed
Thankfully, my youngest has been good lately (since school kicked in) about sleeping in his own bed and going to bed with the rest of the boys. Therefore, once they are tucked in I jump into the shower immediately while I still have the energy to do so. Since I work from home, on most days I don’t have to go anywhere so I feel it allows me to get more sleep by showering at night. (This is also when I shave, wash my hair, and do anything else grooming related so I am prepared for the next day).
Tip: On nights, you have to wash your hair, use a wrapping hair towel so you can let your hair dry while you do whatever it is you need to do at night and switch to a satin bonnet or wrap your hair with a silk scarf before retreating to bed.
Put on Something Comfortable

As a work at home mom, I have to work around the kids schedules, but I still have deadlines to meet. If I wasn’t able to complete all of my obligations (blogging included) I stay up until about 1am (at the latest now that school is in) and finish working and blogging. This means that even though I have showered I still have to work and to do that successfully I need to be comfortable, but not too comfortable.
Recently, I was able to be introduced to a company by the name of Funzee. They have onesies for adults. I love onesies, but because I am so tall (5’10), I cannot purchase ones from Walmart because they are not long enough. Funzee sent me the Wild Unfooted Onesie, which arrived this week and it fit perfectly. It was long enough, it even included socks, and it was spacious enough for me to be comfortable working in bed or sitting Indian style typing at my desk.
In addition, I love Funzee so much because their onesies are going to come in handy for me during the winter months. I am anemic so I am always freezing even when everyone else is saying my house is super-hot. Funzee is also 100% cotton or polar fleece and you are able to wash them, but you have to hang them to dry.
Overall, if you don’t have a Funzee in your nighttime wardrobe I would definitely recommend that you order one. They are so comfortable and cute too. Make sure you connect with Funzee on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google +.Make @funzeeUS a part of your nighttime routine to be ready for the next day. Click To Tweet
Wash My Face
Since I don’t make it to bed until after midnight on the weeknights, it is important for me to not only be showered but also to have a clean face. I am not a heavy makeup wearer, but I do wear eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow. Never sleep with any type of makeup on your face, so wash your face or use a product such as Sea Breeze before going to bed to ensure your pores are not becoming clogged.
Plan Lunch/ Pack Book bags/ Lay out the Kids Clothes
The last thing I do before starting work for the night is plan out what my oldest will have for lunch the next day. This year he wanted to take his own lunch so I have to make sure that is done by 6am each morning. Now, when you go to bed late, you aren’t going to want to be scrambling to plan out lunch, pack a book bag, or pick out clothes. Therefore, I do this the night before so in the morning (kid wise) all that has to take place is putting lunch in the lunchbox (unless you are making a sandwich, I do that in the morning so the bread isn’t soggy), put on the bus pass/name tag, and assist with the kids getting dressed.
Now once this is done I can work until it is time to lie down. Then, all I have to do is brush my teeth, find a movie, and wait for the alarm to start blaring at 5am.
How do you use the nighttime when your kids are back in school?
