Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd through 6th this year. Both of my kid’s schools are very excited about it, with one of them sending home a list of items to send every day to celebrate it, therefore, I thought I should share some creative ideas with you today just in case you plan on getting in on the fun.
Teachers work hard, so they definitely deserve to have a week in their honor. Would you agree?
Teachers Appreciation Kit
If you are undecided on a single item, consider a teacher appreciation kit. In the kit are items that can be used inside the classroom such as magnet tape for chalkboards and stickers to reward children for good work and behavior. Gifts that can be used inside the classroom are ideal because most teachers spend their own money for classroom supplies.
Something that your teacher can display in a classroom, such as a plaque from the class or a special inscription from a group of students is something a teacher will not ever forget. Something fun that can be shared in the classroom is a travel coaster kit. Now, it does not mean that a class trip is needed, but it can be reflective of the geography and social lessons from around the world taught in the classroom. The teacher can use this every day on his or her desk.
Teachers make impacts on our children’s lives every day in ways that we don’t even know because it’s them in the classroom and not us. If a teacher has helped your child through a difficult situation such as bullying, a family tragedy or a serious illness, a gift that reflects their kind heart is ideal. Consider making a photo collage with a simple craft kit and using stickers and other scrapbooking supplies that are education-themed to create that personal appreciation gift.
Simple Thank You Theme
Sometimes a simple thank you goes a lot farther than an elaborate gift. Just as with our service men and women, two words – “Thank You” – , mean more than any other two words that could be spoken to them. In some cases, no other words are needed. Thank you themed items like glass etchings, wall posters signed by the whole class, plaques, and even coffee mugs or water bottles make perfect gift ideas. Something the teacher can see or use daily reminds them that their students love them.
Teachers do have dress down days and often wear what’s comfortable at home. Funny t-shirts make great gifts because it will put a smile on the teacher’s face and is often reflective of their classroom time and experiences. When the teacher gets together with friends or colleagues, they can all have a chuckle about the relevancy of the funny phrasing on the t-shirt.
Get creative with your gifts for the teacher next week. Stray from the typical apple or fresh-baked cookies. Although time is running out to plan a group gift, it can still be accomplished if the entire class wishes to get one gift, which is often a better option. Surprise your children’s favorite teacher and show him or her how much they mean to your family.
What will you be getting the teachers in your kid’s life for teachers appreciation week?
