I had a great time with my kids during our first visit to Kings Dominion. I am planning to take the kids back during Memorial Day weekend to visit Soak City. Since this trip is mostly planned around water activities, I need to plan my checklist a little differently to include extra towels and changes of clothes.
Variety of Water Activities and Rides
Kings Dominion is the only Virginia theme park destination that offers two theme parks for the price of one. My kids and I enjoyed the thrill rides and availability of kids’ activities on our first visit, therefore, we want to expand our adventure this trip. Soak City opens on May 28th and will be open on the weekends through June 10th. It will be open daily from June 10th through September 5th.
For our first Soak City water park visit, Aqua Blast is a priority on the schedule. This is one of the water activities that looks like the most fun as two people are blasted through twisting tubes that have 4 loops, spilling out onto a waterslide and landing in a big pool. It could pass for a water-powered roller coaster.
Water Thrill Ride Area
Hurricane Heights also looks to provide a lot of family fun with dropping floors, twists, turns and free falling into the water. Hurricane Heights is the location for the water thrill rides like Paradise Plunge, Aqua Blast and Thunder Falls.
We are going to enjoy a day beating the heat on the 20-acre splash-tacular, sun lover’s paradise that features water activities for guests of all ages.
More Trips Planned
Since I had such fun on my first visit to Kings Dominion with my kids, I am planning additional trips throughout the summer. It was fun to visit around Spring Break as the weather was just starting to warm up enough. With there being so much to do and plenty of food options on-site, I am planning to purchase a season pass for the family next year.
Upcoming Kings Dominion Events
I already have some of these dates saved on my calendar, like KidsFest. Kidsfest will be held on the weekends of July 16th and 17th, and again the weekend of July 23rd and 24th. Oktoberfest activities are taking place in late September, where traditional German foods will be available. It would also be fun to pack up the kids and go to Kings Dominion for the Star Spangled Celebration over the 4th of July holiday.
