Two weeks ago I visited DC for basically the first time (I went once when I was younger with family, but I barely remember that trip). I have been meaning to write about my time there for a while, but well life and work got in the way, so I decided since I had some spare time today I would write about the trip now. Anyways, let me go ahead and get started with the highlights of my trip.

Valet Parking is Required and Expensive
Living in Virginia, Valet parking is available at some places, but it is always optional (from my experience anyways). However, in DC Valet parking is required at the clubs, hotels, and basically, everywhere you go.
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza at Hamilton while there, which is a super nice hotel, but Valet parking was $40. The good news is you could text the Valet people to get your car back (I found that super cool for some reason) and you could come and go as you pleased after the payment. However, I paid $275 for the room, which I was barely in for an hour the entire night, so it seems like that would have been something included in the price. I will admit I did book last minute as going to DC was a spur of the moment trip. REALLY spur of the moment. My kids got invited for a spur of the moment sleepover and I called a friend to hang out and we just got on the road and drove to DC.
The Clubs Are Expensive
Against the bartender’s advice in the hotel bar, we decided to go to another part of DC to party. The bartender suggested walking to some of the local places around to avoid another valet parking fee, but I didn’t really like the vibe of the places in walking distance. Therefore, once back in the car, we were listening to the radio and they mentioned, “Trey Songz” being at a club called Bliss so I was all over that and had to go there.

It didn’t take long to get there, but the parking charge was $60 and then it was $40 to get in the club. Additionally, their security was super tight. It was definitely an experience different from the clubs I go to in Virginia. The line was crazy long too. I think we waited for an hour to get in. But, their clubs are open later than ours here in Virginia and the wait was worth it because I got to see Trey Songz perform live.
My Thoughts on Crowne Plaza at Hamilton
Overall, the Crowne Plaza at Hamilton is a nice hotel. It is very clean and organized. However, the GPS will have you running in circles trying to find it. We had to ask a local where it was at to be able to find it. The rooms and bathrooms are really nice, customer service gets five stars, and they have high-quality bath products available in the bathroom. I only stayed in the room to shower and get dressed to go out, so I can’t say anything about the mattress quality/sleeping there lol, but it is a hotel that I would stay in again.

In DC I spent way more money than I would if I would have just gone to Virginia Beach or Richmond, but I had fun, saw Trey Songz, and let loose for a night without being a mom. I’m not sure if I will be taking another unplanned trip there, though, as it is expensive and their traffic is even crazier than ours.
Have you ever been to DC? If so, what was your experience like?
