With the world, we live in, it is common for people to have insecurities about themselves. The media attempts to dictate what beauty, healthy, success, and other things are. However, we must be above this and learn to fall in love with ourselves. Besides, as parents, we must set the positivity for our children so they can be confident and have healthy relationships when they are adults. Therefore, today I am covering the topic of how to overcome your insecurities and fall in love with yourself.
Get a Positive Mindset
The first step in overcoming your insecurities is to get a positive mindset. I have been in a place where I felt I weighed too much, my skin wasn’t clear enough, I didn’t have all the things I wanted, and more. I could have been considered what some would refer to as a “negative Nancy” when it came to how I felt about myself. I was always finding fault with my life and my appearance and it literally took a toll on me.
To change my negative mindset, I started meditating, focusing on my strengths instead of my weaknesses, and just enjoying life. So what if I have adult acne, so what if I’m not a size 5 anymore. Life goes on and honestly it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Remember That Things Aren’t Always as They Seem
The thing with the media, especially social media, is that things are not always what they seem. Someone could be posting about lavish vacations, but in reality, they are barely holding their marriage together or their kids haven’t spoken to them in years. Social media is where people can portray whatever they want to, but it doesn’t mean that their life is perfect.
Therefore, the next time you are on social media and you see something that makes you feel insecure about yourself, remember that things are always what they seem. In fact, believe it or not, you yourself probably make someone feel insecure because it seems like you have everything together or they think you look awesome as you are.
Instead of searching for the best hair loss treatment for men and women, or that miracle cream that will brighten up your face, or even that magic weight loss supplement work on improving yourself.
The first step would be to write out all your good qualities and focus on those. Then, when negative thoughts start to pop up in your mind compare yourself to yourself by thinking about all those good qualities you wrote out.
Do what makes you happy and if you’re happy, don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. You only live once so don’t waste your time trying to please others.
Closing Thoughts on Insecurities
Everyone has insecurities; however, we cannot let them determine how we live our lives. If we do, we will find ourselves miserable and missing out on a lot of opportunities in life.
