Children are meant to play with toys. It’s not just to get their heads out of the television or stop them from pestering you all day. Toys send sparks to their mind and encourage sharing, discovery, and independence. Playing with toys stimulates emotional growth. It’s a fun experience, but there are some toys that can be educational as well.
Recently, I came across a company called Stephen Joseph Gifts and I was amazed at all the toys, such as their “Timeless Toys” collection, which allows kids to learn while having fun. Their toys encourage play-based learning, which we all know is an important part of our kid’s learning, development, and problem-solving skills. The toys allow them to try out new combinations of actions and encourages a sense of accomplishment. The best part is when you shop with Stephen Josephs Gifts their prices range from $6.90 to $29.90, which makes their prices very affordable.
Below are four reasons you should be purchasing educational toys for your kids.Check out this post to see how @stephen__joseph can benefit your child. #Giveaways4Mom Click To Tweet
To Increase Cognitive and Motor Skills
As your kids are developing, the most important thing for them to do is learn and grow! The early stages of their life are important because they start developing their major senses:
Although children can develop these senses no matter what’s going on in their lives, it’s not necessarily meaning they will develop to the level they can and should be at, though. This is where having educational toys can make even more difference. These toys are meant to hone in and develop certain senses. The more your child receives these simulations, the better off their brains nerve connectivity will be.
Do you purchase #educationaltoys for your #kids? I do and my boys love it. Today for #education time they are practicing #spelling words with the magnetic spelling board from @stephenjosephgifts. Over the weekend, the boys and I were using the Spell & Count Magnetic Play Board from Stephen Josephs Gifts. They had fun! We practiced spelling out their entire names and working on visualizing different sight words. I could keep them involved with our educational activities for about two and a half hours simply because they could interact more with the letters vs us sitting down working out of a workbook.
To Develop Your Childs Exploratory Skills
How can your child explore if they aren’t intrigued or holding anything? Many handheld games are not meant for your child to figure out anything. As wonderful as technology is these days, your child needs to make discoveries on their own. Part of learning is making mistakes and to do so, they need to explore their surroundings and immediate objects.
For example, my kids do have tablets where they have educational apps downloaded. However, while they enjoy doing the educational apps many apps will give them the correct answer immediately if they get something wrong. That’s where the Spell & Count Magnetic Play Board comes in. It allows me to interact with them and let them know when words are spelled wrong yet at the same time instead of them getting it wrong and moving on to the next word they can keep trying until they get it spelled correctly.
To Stimulate Vocabulary
Educational toys help stimulate your child’s vocabulary. Many times, your child increases their vocabulary from asking you questions about how something works. This stimulates conversation while they are playing with mom and dad.
Now, on the other hand, educational toys are helping with enriching your child’s vocabulary. They are learning shapes, sizes, color’s and encouraged to talk about these objects. They are learning all about math such as geometry and algebra without even knowing it.
Let’s consider alphabets. Children learn at an early age to start blending letter’s together to create words. They don’t always know what they are spelling, but after a while, phonics starts to kick in. They’ll soon be spelling out loud and move toy alphabets around everywhere.
My youngest son especially loves the new toy from Stephen Josephs Gifts. He had been asking to do it since the package arrived and he saw what was inside. Therefore, when we all finally had time to do it together it was such a thrill for him to be able to put letters together in real time to format words.
However, when I try to get him to do the workbooks with his older brothers and me that rarely keeps his attention for more than a few minutes. So, the Magnetic Play Board is just what we needed to keep him interested in expanding his vocabulary while also letting him visually recognize all the new words he is learning.
To Help Children Relate Concepts to Real Life Scenarios
I’m not saying that all non-educational toys are based on fictional scenarios, but they certainly aren’t all based on real life scenarios. When dealing with educational toys, the STEMS, for instance, your child is exposed to concepts related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Your child can be exposed to coding, architecture, robotics, and electric circuits… it can’t get more real-life based than that!
Final Thoughts on Educational Toys
Now, as you can see, the above four reasons are the exact goal of most parents. We want our children not only to grow intellectually but also be happy and have fun doing so. So, don’t feel bad about purchasing your child toys, just purchase them a few more educational ones to make up for the guilt!
