“Employee of the Year” is a Virginia movie that has been in the works for the past two years. Locals of Virginia are probably familiar with this film because it was shot right here in Norfolk, Virginia.
I recently watched this Romantic Comedy and I found it quite enjoyable.
Today I wanted to briefly discuss why this is one of the movies that I would recommend to others.
It Makes You Laugh and Cry
While the majority of the movie will make you laugh, there are some parts that will have you shedding a few tears. You’ll find yourself crying one moment and laughing the next – all in the same scene!
While watching Employee of the Year you are guaranteed to forget about the drama you have going on in your life for close to two hours.
You Will Feel Like Anything is Possible
This movie keeps it real. You can form a realistic situation out of watching this movie which helps it drill home with you. No one wants to watch a movie that appears to be some sort of “fairy tale” and Employee of the Year is far from that.
You can actually see the “real life” lesson that should be learned from this film by the time it ends!
It Reminds You of Yourself
Regardless of what your background is, with the assortment of characters displayed as the plot unfolds, you can find someone who reminds you of yourself.
CC, one of the main characters, is a young woman who likes to be free while Marvin (Quincy Carr) is the character that is helpful, guiding, hilarious, and always helping others see the bigger picture.

Quincy Carr drew me in as a fan a couple of years ago when I attended one of his shows as part of one of the MeetUp groups that I am a part of. What made him stand out is that he doesn’t use profanity any of his shows but his comedy shows will have you kneeling over with laughter.
I cannot make it to all the shows as they are usually held 1 ½ hours from my home on a school night, but I go to as many as possible. In fact, if you’re local you should check him out at Dave & Busters on the 24th of May.
Final Thoughts on Employee of the Year
The cast really did their thing when it comes to Employee of the Year. I’m only familiar with one actor in the film but I found it to be a hilarious romantic comedy. You can rent it on Amazon in SD for $3.99 so you really have nothing to lose, but missing one of the first things that Quincy Carr has in store for us.
