Did you know that until June 30th everyone pays kid price when visiting Kings Dominion?
This is right on time because KidsFest is held June 10th and 11th plus again on the 17th and 18th. With school now being out, this is the perfect reason to get the kids out of the house on the weekend so they can burn out some of their energy.
Last Sunday, my boys and I spent the day at Kings Dominion and our first stop was KidsFest before we spent the rest of the evening trying to stay cool in Soak City. Today, I wanted to share a recap or what we experienced so you know what to expect since the final weekend for KidsFest is this weekend.
What is KidsFest?
KidsFest is when Planet Snoopy is packed full of various kid’s activities such as live entertainment, animal shows, magic, crafts, and other sorts of activities that you can enjoy together as a family. One of the main highlights of KidsFest is the Brick Fest Live, which is one of the largest touring LEGO shows that is interactive and fun for everyone.
While there make sure you check out the newly expanded Planet Snoopy which now includes rides such as Kite Eating Tree, Sally’s Sea Plane, and Peanuts 500.Check out @Giveaways4Mom's recap of #KidsFest @KingsDominionVA! Click To Tweet
What We Experienced at KidsFest
While there we couldn’t do everything that KidsFest had to offer. We started off on the side where the Legos were and once we were finished with that side it was time to do lunch and the kids were getting hot and bothered so we headed over to Soak City.
However, while we were inside of KidsFest the boys had a blast. You probably already could guess that though because I said Legos and most kids enjoy them and could do it for hours – mine included.
Upon walking into Planet Snoopy the boys immediately spotted Joe Cool’s Pool Pit. This is where there were sections of Legos spread out on the floor and we went inside where they built a magnificent house and other creations.

The best part about being in there for parents is they had a large fan blowing so you didn’t get too hot since Sunday it was in the 90s. The boys stayed in there for about 1 ½ hours until I finally could convince them to move on to another location.

Our next stop was the animal show. While there they were able to pet the turtle, snake, and alligator. I learned my boys have no fear at all because they were eager to be one of the first to touch.
After sanitizing hands, we moved on to try to find Brick Fest live, but on the way, we came across the balloon artist, who was in demand. We waited for half an hour here to get everyone’s balloons made (there were 6-7 others ahead of us). As an adult, I must say that this was cool.

Finally, after this, we made it to the next part of Brick Fest live, which was the Activities in Crabbie Caddies. Here we made tiles for the gigantic Planet Snoopy floormat.

Our last stop before lunch was the activities building. The boys attempted to build their own derby cars and we were able to check out an awesome display of glow in the dark Legos, which they had never seen (and were totally cool by the way) that they now want for home.

Closing Thoughts on KidsFest
Overall, when going to KidsFest you should expect to have your kids be stuck in the Legos sections for a while. We spent hours playing with Legos and creating things. Learn from my mistake and start on the craft sections (at the right of Planet Snoopy) instead of the left. We had a great day and the boys were exhausted afterward. It was hot so we spent the rest of the day riding water slides and floating on the Lazy River (for the first time). I would recommend checking out KidsFest though.
Also, keep in mind that Kings Dominion has other events coming up to keep an eye out for too such as KingsFest, JoyFest, and the Halloween Haunt and Great Pumpkin Fest.
