Fall is almost here and there’s no shortage of things to do in Virginia this year. The kids are sure to have a great time and the adults are definitely going to enjoy getting in on the fun too. Here are the top activities you should consider this fall in Virginia.

The Great Pumpkin Fest is the scare-free festival for kids at King’s Dominion. It’s included in the admission to King’s Dominion and includes an introduction from the cast of PEANUTS. They can also have fun decorating pumpkins in time for Halloween and meeting the friendly animals in the petting zoo.

Over at Busch Gardens, there’s a Halloween event exclusively for the kids throughout every October weekend. Every kid is encouraged to come dressed in their costumes so they can hang out with their favorite Sesame Street characters. In Busch Gardens they’ll get to meet Elmo, the Cookie Monster, and more of their favorites.
With family activities and special trick or treating opportunities, this will be a memorable weekend.
Note: This is the first time they are hosting such an event and it ends before Howl O Scream starts.
The Corn Maze in the Plains will take you out of the cities and into this giant Virginia corn maze. Join in with the hayride through the Virginia countryside, throw a pumpkin across the hillside, race through the obstacle course, and even venture into the special Night Maze.
This non-commercial getaway is an excellent chance to enjoy the fall colors of Virginia.
Gallmeyer Farms is open for the fall to celebrate a family enterprise that has spanned a whole century. A field trip to the Veggie Stand is a great way to educate your kids about local foods and how real farms work. You can also purchase some delicious homegrown Virginia fare.
There’s also a play area for the kids, complete with toys and equipment. And what better way to enjoy some family fun than by indulging in the free picnic area?
Check out Virginia Beach’s original hayride. This hayride will take you through the Haunted Hunt Club Farm and its woods. Enter the asylum and sneak through the decrepit barn, which is just next to the spooky graveyard.
If your kids think they’re brave enough to take on the Haunted Hayride then take them down to Virginia Beach this fall.
Celebrate the majesty of autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains at Harvest Fest. The Spooktacular Workshop will let your kids get their hands dirty with test tube candy, the greenest slime, and pumpkin lanterns.
As the night descends, they’ll be able to indulge in trick or treat candy hunts and movie nights with prizes. And around Wintergreen Resorts you can take in micro-breweries, delightful orchards, and the stunning Virginia countryside.
