As you already know I am someone who likes to keep things as simple as possible – especially with three young kids. When it comes to unexpected doctors or ER visits I would prefer to make it as painless and less time-consuming as possible. Recently, I was introduced to a website/service called Amwell and today I am here to display my personal thoughts on the service.
Amwell, also known as, American Well, is a telehealth company, which allows you to connect with licensed doctors, dieticians, and psychologists in real time 24/7. You can go to them for minor illnesses and injuries, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and even chronic condition management. Basically, they are doctors that you can see from the comfort of your home. What could be much better than that?
Why I Like Amwell
You know, sometimes you need to see a doctor, but there is no real reason to wait in an ER or doctor’s office for hours. For example, you may have a cold, sinus infection, UTI, bronchitis, or something else that is easy to diagnose. Despite having to wait for an extremely long time by going in person, by using one of the doctors from Amwell I am able to save money in addition to saving myself a ton of time. As a mom of three, time or money never seems to be on my side, so I am always for cheap and fast solutions. The best part is when you go to Amwell you can be confident knowing that the average doctor treating you has at least 15 years of experience. Yes, that’s right no more of those nightmare ER visits where an inexperienced doctor in training makes the wait ten times longer because you have to wait for the licensed doctor to sign off on the students diagnose.
Why I Recommend Amwell
Going to the ER or doctor can be very expensive depending on the type of insurance you have. AND for those who don’t have insurance and pay for everything out of pocket it is a quick way to find yourself in a ton of debt. With Amwell you can pay $49 and be able to access them at any hour from the comfort of your home. It is convenient and you can even get prescriptions prescribed from the comfort of your home.
Have you ever seen a doctor via the internet before? If so, what was your experience? If not, do you see the potential benefits of using an online doctor?
