I have to be honest and say that I have a love/hate relationship with winter. While I love that there are no bees and wasps flying around, winter comes with me being sick most months and constantly trying to keep my skin safe from the harsh temperatures. Despite the fact, that we are still getting up to the 80s some days here in Virginia, winter is coming, therefore, I thought I would share some of my winter skincare tips today.
Drink Plenty of Water & Eat Healthy
When it comes to your skin, it starts from the inside. I learned this lesson a while ago and have eliminated things such as soda and candy from my diet altogether. Drinking water is not only good for your body, but it helps your skin.
Water helps your skin because your skin cells are made of water. Not to mention water helps with your circulation, digestion, and more. In my opinion, water could potentially be the fountain of youth and as I will be nearing 30 soon, I personally prefer to look as youthful as possible.
Use Moisturizing Lotions
Unfortunately for me, since I have sensitive skin I don’t get the chance to use all the great smelling lotions in the summer. Therefore, I use moisturizing lotion all year. However, during the winter months, it is especially important to keep your skin moisturized since the temps are so low.
My personal preference is Aveeno. It claims to keep your skin moisturized for 24 hours, but I tend to use it during the morning and at night before bed.
Use Facial Masks and Cleansers
If you have been a long-term reader of my blog, you already know that I am obsessed with facial masks and cleansers. During the winter months, they are needed as well, but I change up the types that I use to make sure they are providing me with the benefits that I need to protect my face against the weather.
Use Humidifiers and Air Purifiers When at Home
The air inside of your home plays a part in your skin health as well. Therefore, during the winter it can be worth it to invest in a good humidifier to keep your air moist and a good air purifier, such as the Febreze one I introduced you to recently, to keep the air clean.
Well, these are my four ways that I keep my skin healthy during the winter. The only other thing I could suggest is going on vacation to a warmer location during the winter months, but I’m sure as parents that is only a dream.
How do you take care of your skin during the winter months?
