I cannot believe that school is about to start, it seems that summer break just started. I like to help expand my kids’ minds throughout the year, even during summer break. In the summer months, I have educational activities, books, and games for them to play to help them learn problem-solving skills, keep them occupied, and be prepared for their next grade level at school.

I was able to review the WEDNETix Magnetic Building Blocks last summer. The boys really loved the blocks, so we continued using them in frequent activities throughout the year. The best part is when they are playing with the blocks and don’t realize that they’re learning something too.

A month or so before school starts, I like to help my kids prepare for what they will be learning in the new school year. I purchase grade-specific workbooks, last year was just kindergarten, but this year I needed a first-grade book too. The activities are fun, but also teach my kids new skills and further their learning.

The Learning Resources Pretend & Play School Set is a product that all parents should have in their home. With this set, you can have all of your children working on educational activities at one time and it even includes the cutest school bell. When we used this set my younger son, who is just starting school this year, could participate in the activities. I even send this with the boys when they go to my mom’s because it is ideal for travel since everything fits neatly into the case.
Incredibundles has bundles for several age groups. You can choose a package that is already decided or create a custom bundle, which is what I chose to do since my boys are a little bit older. I have been working on helping my boys improve their reading skills. My youngest is more interested in books and learning, so he enjoys reading time more now.
My boys are rather hands-on when it comes to learning, so being able to interact with them and have items they can touch and move is helpful.

I cannot say enough good things about TeachMy learning kits. These are great for parents that have kindergarteners, preschoolers, toddlers, and babies. There are learning packages for those four age groups with varying learning tools like number blocks, activity books, letters, and educational games. These help my boys learn to spell and learn simple math to help them be more able to grasp what they are learning in school.

I enjoy taking time with my boys to do educational activities. We spend more time on fun learning activities as the first day of school gets closer. They’re having fun, so they aren’t realizing that they’re experiencing a learning lesson at the same time.
What activities do you do with your children to help get them in back to school mode?
