Here in Virginia, we have been getting up to close to the 70s some days, which has put me in the mindset for spring. Spring is one of my favorite seasons and I not only look forward to spring cleaning my house, but I also look forward to jumping into a new skincare routine to match the season as well. So, today I just wanted to go into my spring skin care routine a little bit and provide some of the tips that work for me when it comes to getting my skin ready for spring.
Let’s get started.
Evaluate Your Current Skin Concerns
The first thing I recommend doing is evaluating your current skin care concerns. For me, my main two issues that I’m addressing is continuing to clear my face up and tightening up the skin on my thigh and stomach area. The skin tightening is super important for me because I’ll be spending a week in Mexico in August and I must make sure I am ready to enjoy wearing the cute dresses that I’ll be buying for my trip.
For my acne concerns, my aunt recommended using some Neutrogena products, which I’ll be going into more detail about later and for my skin tightening process I purchased the Therawell Cellulite Massager from Bed, Bath, and Beyond since it has some pretty decent reviews. The massager is expected to arrive later this week, so I’ll start using it next week and see what results I get.
Anyways, the reason I recommend evaluating your current skin concerns is so you can set up any appointments that you may need to help you get on track before summer and so you can evaluate the progress that you were able to make to them during the winter months.
Drink More Water
Drinking water is something that I absolutely hate doing. In fact, the only time I do drink a ton of water is when I’m at kickboxing class because I have to keep my body hydrated so I don’t dehydrate when working out. However, I know from experience that whenever I make myself drink at least 5 bottles of water per day and 4-5 mugs of green tea daily that I see great improvements in my skin. So, I’m back committed to doing that again and to spice it up I’ve started making pitchers of lemon water. This is like killing two birds with one stone since lemon water provides some excellent health benefits.
Get Back into Your Shaving Routine
During the winter I know I don’t like to spend a lot of time focusing on keeping up with shaving. Majority of the time I’m wearing leggings and hoodies so who has time to keep shaving constantly 1-2 times per week?
However, spring is the perfect time to get back into your shaving routine. For me, I like to shave my legs at least once a week and underarms are done about twice a week. In my opinion, hair attracts odors with all the sweating so being back into my shaving routine is a big must before summer sets in.
Currently, I’m using the razors and shaving cream from Angel Shave Club, so if you’re looking for some high-quality razors that make your skin feel awesome and you don’t have to worry about ingrown hairs I highly suggest you check them out.
Make Sure You Have the Right Facial Products
Remember how I talked about my aunt recommending I go back to using Neutrogena products earlier in this post? Well, she was right. They turned out to be the perfect match for my skin, which is very important.
Having the right facial products is key to getting the skin that you want to have during the spring months. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that over the years I have tried numerous skin care products, and some were great, while others were a disaster and in the end they all turn out stopping to work after continued months of use, so I have the favorites that I like to rotate between.
The good news is with Neutrogena they have facial products that can help you make it through the entire year. You can find products in their skincare line that is appropriate for each season.
My Skin Care Routine with Neutrogena Products
Currently, I have three products that I am using from the Neutrogena line on my face: Oil Free Acne Wash (Pink Grapefruit Scrub), Deep Clean Purifying Clay Cleanser/Mask, and the Deep Clean Purifying Cooling Gel Scrub.
I use the Oil-Free Acne Wash or the Deep Clean Purifying Cooling Gel Scrub close to every day once a day alternating between the two and I use the Deep Clean Purifying Clay Cleanser/Mask once a week. I’ve been using the Pink Grapefruit Scrub for the longest (close to a month now) and I am loving the results that I’m seeing.
In the beginning, using the products did cause a few blemishes to appear, however, this was expected since it must pull out the impurities in your skin to start repairing the damage done. But, now it’s pretty much smooth sailing and the best part is it doesn’t cause any type of irritation when I am using the products.
Get New Sunscreen
Did you know that sunscreen expires? Well, it does. Therefore, each year I recommend throwing out the old and purchasing some new ones. I haven’t gotten around to purchasing sunscreen yet for this year, so if you have some suggestions that you think I should try please let me know in the comments section.
Make Sure You Have the Right Body Products
Last, but certainly, not least, you want to make sure that you have the right products for your body. Your arms, legs, and feet are going to be exposed to the sun.
Recently, on Instagram, I mentioned a new product that I was trying out from Cannabliss. Their Bliss Body Oil works so well that I am going to keep it on my list of body products for spring. However, since it is a bit oily and takes a little bit of time to dissolve in I only use it at night. But, the benefits of using it linger around well into the next day. It makes your skin feel so smooth, glides on easily, and it will have you falling back in love with your skincare routine in no time at all.
I recently added @cannablissorganic to my nighttime skincare routine and the bliss body oil is everything. It makes your skin feel so smooth and soft and it doesn’t take long at all for you to start feeling and seeing the results. #bebliss #organicskincare #organicbeauty #greenbeauty #cbdbeauty #crueltyfreebeauty #cannablisorganic #ad
