It’s no secret. I’m in my early twenties with three kids and I am far from having a super model body. I know what my goal weight and shape is, but even when I am the most motivated workout person, I can never seem to stick with my goals. I know how it feels to just give up until you see too many pounds on the scale or until someone comments on just how much weight you have gained. Trust me; it’s the story of my life. However, despite the fact that I am guilty of self-sabotaging myself and have others who constantly remind me that I am not a “lightweight” I am not giving up on my body goals and I hope my post today can inspire you not to give up either.Don't give up on your weight loss goals before you read this post! For the first time readers here I will give you a little background on my body journey. Over the years, I have tried numerous exercise programs such as FeFit, The Brazilian Butt Lift, and even have a gym membership at planet fitness. I will say the exercise programs do give me good results, however, after about a month of being on a consistent routine with them I just throw in the towel. I start making excuses as to why I can’t work out one day and that day turns into a week.
I have also tried numerous creams and concoctions to try to improve my appearance (or trick myself into thinking I’m improving it) and more often than not this turns into a waste of money. For example, my chest area is something that needs some work. They have become smaller and not as perky as I would like after having three kids and I have lost my butt too. I have tried Bring it up which was 50% okay and most recently, I tried 180 Cosmetics Breast Firming Solutions, which didn’t help my chest area at all, but I feel it has been doing a good job on my stomach. Finally, I have even considered having a fat transfer surgery done – still on the table once I have the extra time and cash at this moment.
Well, as you can see I don’t have a problem making it through the testing session of the workout routine phase, but after that it gets boring and I kind of drop out of the game.
Anyways, let’s get on track with this post.
Why I’m Not Giving Up on My Goals
Since the beginning of October, I have been making it my goal to do “some type of exercise each day”. So far, it has been going well. There hasn’t been much pressure because exercise could be as simple as doing some squats while I brush my teeth or lunging while I clean up around the house. However, recently, I read a book called, “Giving Up? Stop! Don’t Quit Now!: How to Rescue, Revitalize, and Reach Your Goals in Spite of Yourself!” and it really shed some light on why I was not reaching my body goals. I already knew I am the master at self-sabotage, but it never occurred to me that my goals were not S.M.A.R.T. After reading this book, I set back and reevaluated my goals so I know what to do. Even though when I hopped on the scale today (something else I had stopped doing lately) it read 6 pounds heavier than the last time I got up there, I knew I wouldn’t give up on my body journey. I had been going about it all wrong.
Therefore, I popped in the Air Bar Exercises DVD and got to work. I even learned how to be more flexible. In the past, I felt as though I had to do everything as instructed in the workout DVDs. However, I don’t have an Air Bar, so I used my 5 pound weights instead and made it work! While it did make the workout a little more challenging, I felt as though I had accomplished what I set out to get from my workout.
As I sit here I may feel my arms rubs against my sides in a slightly uncomfortable way, but one thing is I know have S.M.A.R.T. goals in place for my body journey so it will not always be that way. Next year when I look back at this post, I hope to be able to say, I did it and be able to move on to a new body goal.
Therefore, my thought for you from this post is before giving up; make sure that you have S.M.A.R.T. goals in place.
Have you tried setting S.M.A.R.T. goals? Did doing so help you achieve your goal.
