When the pandemic first started there was a shortage of at-home covid-19 tests. Thankfully, these days there is a steady stream of them available from an assortment of different brands.

Unfortunately, like with everything else, once so many different brands are introduced then it comes down to deciding which is the best home covid test.

Therefore, today, I wanted to share with you what you need to know about at-home Covid-19 tests so you can make an informed decision when purchasing.

How accurate are at-home Covid-19 tests?

If you use an at-home Covid-19 test as directed in the instructions it is very rare that you’ll receive a false positive.

Additionally, if you get a negative result, but have symptoms of the illness still it could mean that the level of the virus in your system is too low to be detected at the time of testing. In this case, you’d want to retest again in a few days.

Furthermore, the accuracy of the test is going to depend on the specific test that you use. For example, rapid antigen tests are usually accurate when it comes to positive results, but negative results should be confirmed with a PCR test.

However, if you go with the Lucira Check It COVID-19 test, it combines the accuracy of a PCR test and the speed of a rapid antigen test. Lucira is  98% accurate with results in 30 minutes or less at home.

How accurate is the Lucira Check It COVID-19 test?

The Lucira Check It COVID-19 test is the next generation of testing.

When compared to one of the most sensitive lab PCR tests, it was shown to be 98% accurate.

Where can I buy a Covid-19 self-test?

A Covid-19 self-test can be purchased in-store at local pharmacies or ordered online.

However, I recommend ordering the Lucira Check It COVID-19 test online because it can be used by all ages 2+ when an adult administers the test for children aged 2-13. Furthermore,  it detects all COVID-19 variants of interest and concern, including Omicron and all BA subvariants of concern.

In my opinion, it’s the best Covid-19 self-test option available at this time.

Additionally, if you have private insurance, you should qualify to be reimbursed for up to 8 self-tests per month (per member).

How to use at-home Covid-19 tests?

Before administering an at-home test it’s very important that you read the brand’s specific instructions that come with the test and follow their instructions to ensure that your results are accurate.

However, in general, most tests require that you “swab”, “stir”, and wait for the results.

Is the Lucira Check It COVID-19 test the best home covid test?

The Lucira Check It COVID-19 test is the first and only FDA EUA authorized single-use PCR-quality molecular test available over the counter.

This fast home test gives you easy to view results in 30 minutes or less, is easy to use, and is suitable for those 2+, which makes it the perfect option for the entire family.

Since it allows you to test whenever you need to from the comfort of your home and provides results that you can trust, it is easily one of the best home covid tests in my opinion.

Closing Thoughts

At-home Covid-19 tests allow you to get quick results from the comfort of your home regardless of your vaccination status and the symptoms that you are experiencing.

You can have peace of mind knowing whether or not you’ve been infected by the virus and plan accordingly.

If you do get a positive test result or a negative result that you feel is inaccurate based on your symptoms, it’s recommended that you follow up with your medical professional.

There are quite a few different at-home test options available these days, but Lucira Check It Covid-19 test is currently one of the best in my opinion.

I was given tests a while back on various supermarket visits so I have supplies. I’ve got those for now luckily. But will buy updated ones if I am concerned about their efficacy.

These tests are so sensitive too. I had to take one at my work and it was a faint positive, I had no symptoms and wasn’t around anyone that had covid. My boss told me to take another one right away and it was negative. I think I bumped the first one on something which threw off the results.
