Macy’s has been killing it when it comes to sales lately. Just last month they had the one-day sale, which had a ton of amazing deals and I was able to find some great items. Now, this month they’re having the Finish Line End of Season Sale, which allows you to save up to 60% on select items until January 18, 2021.
Since the year is just starting and fitness is back at the front of a ton of people’s minds (including mine), I figured this sale is the perfect time to purchase some exercise attire. Whether you’re on the New Year’s resolution bandwagon and are on a super streak at the moment or someone who has been on their fitness journey for a while, Macy’s has the right exercise attire for everyone.
Today, I’ll be sharing the tips I use to find the right exercise attire for myself as well as sharing some of the items that have caught my eye during the Finish Line End of Season Sale at Macy’s.
Purchase based on the type of exercise you do
For a couple of years I’ve been primarily running, strength training, and occasionally trying out new live and on-demand classes with OpenFit.
Since running and strength training differ so much, it’s important to make sure I have the correct type of exercise attire that can work for both workouts.
For example, it’s super important to me that my leggings are sweatproof since when running, I don’t want to look like I’ve wet my pants (especially when at the trail lol). However, when it comes to strength training, I need leggings that aren’t see-through, especially when working out in the gym or with a trainer. The problem is, it’s hard to find leggings that are both sweatproof and not see-through.
Have a budget in place
While it’s not a good thing to purchase exercise attire based solely on how cheap or expensive the clothing is, you do want to make sure that you have a budget in place.
Trust me, it is easy to splurge on exercise attire – I have done it a couple of times myself (VS Sport addiction days lol).
Therefore, before going shopping for exercise attire make sure you have a budget in place. Your wallet will thank you later!
The good news is, Macy’s always seems to have some great sales going on. For example, right now during the Finish Line End of Season Sale at Macy’s, you’re able to save up to 60% on select items until 1/18/21.
This means now is the perfect time to take advantage of investing in some new running shoes right now. I’ve personally got my eye on the Women’s Fresh Foam CruzV1 Reissue Slip-on Running Sneakers by New Balance.
When it comes to your budget and how much you’re willing to pay for your exercise attire, it’s 100% up to you.
For me, I can be cheap as I usually am when it comes to shopping for myself.
However, shopping sales such as the Finish Line End of Season Sale at Macy’s make it so I don’t feel so guilty about splurging AND I’m still able to get the right exercise attire for me so I can make the most out of my workouts.
Make sure you’re comfortable in the exercise attire and it fits
Making sure you’re comfortable in the exercise attire and it fits is probably one of the most important factors when it comes to purchasing exercise attire.
This can be hard to do when shopping online, but after a small test order or going to the store once, you should be able to shop more flexibly online.
I’ve been wearing fitness attire for a while, so it’s typically easy for me to shop online now since I have my favorite exercise clothing brands that I can trust. However, shoes can be a little tricker.
I’ve gotten about 3 pairs of running shoes over the past year and they all have just been mediocre.
Loom Footwear is one of the pricier ones that I’ve tried and while they are waterproof and have a comfortable bottom, which makes them ideal for trail running, when doing my initial run with them I noticed that my feet started to get achy as if they were shrinking in on me or something.
This not only made for a somewhat uncomfortable running experience but once the run was over I realized that the shoes sent was actually one size too small.
Therefore, I cannot stress enough the importance of making sure that you’re not only comfortable in your exercise attire but also that it fits.
Research how long the attire will last
The last thing I consider when purchasing exercise attire is how long will they last.
I have some VS Sports leggings that I have had for at least five years and they look and fit just as well as the day that I purchased them. I did spend quite a bit of money on each pair of leggings, but they have more than gotten their money’s worth out of them.
When spending any sort of money, no matter how much or how little, the expectation is that it will last for a little while at least. Therefore, researching how long the attire will last is something that I had to mention.
Closing thoughts on finding the right exercise attire
Overall, finding the right exercise attire is something that you must put some thought into. I don’t know about you, but I like to make smart purchases and make sure that I’m not uncomfortable or feeling awkward when working out. I hope that this article can help you during your next exercise attire shopping trip.
