How to Create a Guest Bathroom That Guests Will Be Comfortable In

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Food Lion. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am very picky about where I use the bathroom and who uses my personal bathroom in my house.

There are times when I travel that I hold out on going to the bathroom until I can go into one that I know will be clean and somewhat comfortable.

Plus, I’ll let you guys in on a secret – I have been to some people’s houses for events and I wouldn’t even use the bathroom there.

I do love entertaining and when I have guests I never want them to feel as though they can’t use the bathroom or either they go in and decide they would rather hold it until they can go somewhere else.

Therefore, today, I’m sharing with you the things that I do to make sure my guest bathroom is one in which my guests will be comfortable.

Have Extra Tissue and Hand Soap Available

Giveaways 4 Mom

When someone goes into your guest bathroom there is the expectation that you already have hand soap and tissue available.

However, when entertaining, unless you put up a new roll right before the guests arrive, it’s a good chance that the toilet paper will run out before the event is over and no one wants to be the person stuck in the bathroom yelling out into the event that they need someone to bring them some toilet paper.

The same also goes with hand soap, as I know personally I prefer to wash my hands before exiting the restroom.

Tip: My tip for always making sure the extra tissue and hand soap is always stocked is to check it whenever the guest bathroom is cleaned. In my case, I do it twice a week since the kids occasionally go in there when they’re downstairs.

What Hand soap I Have in My Guest Bathroom

When it comes to hand soaps, I must admit that I am not loyal to one brand.

I love trying out different brands and fragrances to keep things fresh. However, the latest brand that I am trying out is CareOne.

For those who aren’t familiar with the CareOne brand, they sell over the counter healthcare and personal care products that can be purchased from Food LionFor More Information about Food Lion’s Private Brand labels click here.

They are priced very affordably, and they are basically the same quality as the items that you would normally purchase from national brands – learn more. Pharmacists have endorsed them, they are exclusively available at Food Lion, and from what I can tell so far, the hand soap works amazing.

I mean, honestly, why spend more on hand soap when you don’t have too. The goal is to clean your hands, right?

Put in Fragrances

Fragrance in Guest Bathroom

Most of you already know that I am obsessed with fragrances.

From wax melts, candles, air freshener, to even bathroom freshener-  fragrances are my specialty.

In the guest bathroom, I like to keep at minimum a toilet freshener and some scented beads in the bathroom. I feel it gives guests an inviting fragrance when they step in and it also will keep the odor down in case someone needs to take a poop without them having to be embarrassed.

If you want to take things one step closer, you can keep a plunger (I do) and air freshener available for them too. If they have everything they need for any type of bathroom situation they will feel more comfortable while in your bathroom. This eliminates embarrassment that could result if someone stops up the toilet.

Add in Some Art Work

Emphasizes on the word “some” here.

At one point I used to be obsessed with wall canvases and plaques, but the OCD in me doesn’t like too many up because it makes the room seem cluttered.

In my guest bathroom, I have a “Bathroom Rules”, but that’s the only thing that’s going on the wall in there.

I’ve been over to some houses where the bathroom was just overfilled with art and decals on the wall and just washing my hands made me feel claustrophobic. This is especially important to avoid doing if your guest bathroom is a half bathroom because it’s already small in there so not much is needed to give it a more comfortable vibe.

Make Sure a Clean Hand Towel Is Always Available

Remember when we talked about having extra hand soap and tissue available earlier?

Well, you want to make sure that a clean hand towel is always available as well. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want guests doing is dripping water from the bathroom to the kitchen to get a paper towel to dry their hands or being forced to dry their hands on their shirt or pants.

Always make sure you have a clean hand towel available and preferably have it located somewhere near the sink. Furthermore, have extra hand towels available also to ensure that a clean hand towel is always available for either guest to get out themselves or for you to make a quick switch when you’re cleaning the bathroom.

As with my personal bathroom, I like to have personality in the guest bathroom and recently invested in some hand towels with sayings/words on them such as “Please Text If You Run Out of TP #Iknowyoureonyourphone”.

Add in Some Personality

In January, I shared with you some of the new things I had done with the master suite, which included adding some humor that myself and my partner loved.

So, of course, I had to add in some of my personality into the guest bathroom as well.

I mean, anyone who comes over knows that I like for things in my home to standout, so it wouldn’t be any different in the guest bathroom. You probably already guessed that about me too based on the hand towel that I mentioned above.

Closing Thoughts – Make Your Guest Bathroom Their Bathroom Away from Home

When creating a guest bathroom look it’s important to make sure that it’s always well stocked, relaxing and inviting, and has some personality to it.

In my case, with my half bathroom I was able to create the look for less than $100 and keeping it tidy will only take one hour per week.

What tips do you have to provide for those hoping to make their guest bathroom more comfortable?

      Trina,

I know the feeling. For the past few years the kid’s bathroom has also served as the guest bathroom and it has been hard keeping it clean. It is such a relief that guests can have their own private space now and actually feel comfortable.

  27. We don’t have a Food Lion near us, but I do have family near one. The Coconut Bliss hand soap sounds amazing!
