How to Save Money on Halloween Costumes in 2022

If you’re looking to save money on Halloween costumes you could make your own or shop second-hand. However, if your kids have their hearts set on a specific costume or the best Halloween costumes this is not always possible.

Thankfully, even when shopping for new Halloween costumes there are a few ways that you can still save money on Halloween costumes and I’m sharing three ways to save money this Halloween with you today AND a few of my favorite online stores to buy Halloween costumes from.

When shopping online make sure you’re using either Rauketen or Ibotta so you can save a few coins and/or earn cash back on your purchases.

Let’s get started.

Make Sure to Use Coupons

To save money on Halloween costumes when shopping online is to use coupons.

Even when you’re not buying Halloween costumes, if you’re shopping online, you should be using coupon codes as there are just too many available for almost every store not too.

Finding coupon codes doesn’t have to be time-consuming either. You can download a browser extension such as SimplyCodes and when shopping on your desktop, laptop, or mobile device all of the available coupon codes will automatically pop up in the corner of your screen.

Shop Using a Cashback Tool

Secondly, to save money on Halloween costumes you also should combine using coupon codes with a cashback tool.

This way you’re saving money upfront and you’re also getting money back after your purchase is completed.

Two cashback tools that I recommend are Ibotta and Rakuten

Sign Up For Halloween Store Email List or SMS Lists

If you’re purchasing Halloween Costumes from a Halloween store such as HalloweenCostumes.com or Spirit Halloween make sure to sign up for their email list and/or SMS list to save money on Halloween costumes.

As Halloween gets closer you’ll have access to subscriber-only discounts that will allow you to save money on Halloween costumes.

Avoid Purchasing Halloween-Themed Shoes

In addition to the costume, many costume options have extra accessories including shoes that you can purchase separately.

While the shoes may seem like a nice addition to the Halloween costume, it’s best to avoid purchasing them as like the costume they’ll probably only be worn one time.

Instead, I’d recommend purchasing some shoes that will work with the costume but can also be worn multiple times afterward too.

For example, if your Halloween costume is going to consist of a dress or skirt, you can pair it with some cute wedge shoes that will work with your costume but can also be worn with your normal attire as well.

5 Best Online Stores to Buy Halloween Costumes

Now, that we’ve covered how to save money on Halloween costumes, I figured I should recommend some of the best online stores to buy Halloween costumes too.

I have shopped from all of these stores throughout the years and I find that they have the best selections, I’m able to get a good deal, AND either use one of my cashback tools or a coupon to save more.

#1 HalloweenCostumes.com

HalloweenCostumes.com is one of my favorite places to shop for Halloween costumes. They have a large selection of Halloween costumes and they even have Halloween decorations too.

You can find couples costumes, family costumes, easy characters to dress up as, and even pet costumes, all at a reasonable price.

They even have movie/tv themed costumes available.

#2 Fun.com

Fun.com is another option when shopping for Halloween costumes. What makes them stand out from other stores on this list is that they even offer Ugly Halloween Sweaters.

While I haven’t tried out their Ugly Halloween Sweaters yet last year my boys tried out their Ugly Christmas Sweaters and they actually loved them (they weren’t itchy and they didn’t even consider them to be ugly).

#3 SpiritHalloween.com

SpiritHalloween.com is another great choice.

While I haven’t shopped via their website they are the closest Halloween store near me, so whenever we’re not doing themed family outfits the boys go there so they can pick out their Halloween costumes in person.

They also are a great choice for Halloween decor too!

Whenever we shop at the local store we always find something small to add to our Halloween decor collection.

#4 PartyCity.com

While in my opinion, Party City caters more to Halloween decor, I figured I should add them to the list because they are a great option for last-minute Halloween costumes when I don’t have time to jump from store to store to see who has costumes near me in stock.

You can place an order via their website and have it delivered to your door the same day in most cases.

Therefore, if you’re missing an accessory or forgot about getting costumes until the day of and don’t have time to go to the closest Halloween store near you, you can easily go to their site and have the costume waiting for you before it’s time to start Trick or Treating.

#5 Amazon.com

Last, but certainly not least, is Amazon.com.

Unsurprisingly, Amazon has everything you need, so it makes sense that you could get Halloween costumes from here too.

Plus, with Amazon, you may be able to find specific themed costumes that you cannot find available at other Halloween stores, such as Turning Red costumes.
