I Took the Kids to The Grocery Store AND It Was Fun

Giveaways 4 Mom

When most parents think about going to the grocery store, the furthest word from their mouth to describe the shopping trip is fun. Trust me, I know as a mom of three boys. However, recently, the boys, their dad, and I took a trip to the Kroger Marketplace in Henrico, Virginia and it was a fun trip. Today, I’m going to do a recap of our little adventure and tell you why shopping at Kroger with the kids doesn’t have to be such a drag.

Let’s Talk About the Kroger Marketplace First

First, I just have to brag about how awesome the Kroger Marketplace is! Like seriously, this place is huge! It’s nothing like the Kroger that is around the corner for me for sure. Plus, their customer service is awesome over there.

Anyways, in case you’re like me and hadn’t seen a Kroger Marketplace before, you must check it out at least once.

Quick Highlights of What to Expect

  • Starbucks
  • Pharmacy
  • Soup & Salad Station
  • Fresh Seafood
  • Lunch Station

Basically, the store is like an enhanced Walmart. As they have clothes, home décor, and even appliances.

How Kroger is Making Grocery Shopping Fun (Even with the Kids)

When we were at the Kroger Marketplace it was their unveiling day for the Marvel Micropopz. My kids are all huge Marvel fans, so when I mentioned Marvel they were ready to go to bed early the night before just to make sure they were well rested to meet the Marvel characters who would be at the store the next day.

I mean I’m so serious, all three after bathtime on Friday night promptly announced they were going to bed…no asking for a bedtime snack, complaining about not being tired, or even me having to tell them when bedtime was. (That’s a good sign, right?)

When we got there, we noticed the display for the Marvel Micropopz and they were excited to see the display – especially my oldest who is obsessed with Spiderman!

Once inside, the staff greeted us and told us about downloading the Kroger! Micropopz app and he even showed the kids the first scan station where Brute happened to pop up.

It turns out that throughout the store while you’re doing your shopping, you’ll run into signs or floor stickers with a scan code on it where various Marvel characters will pop up. You can let your kids do the scanning to reveal the characters and then it’s the perfect moment for a photo opt.

We had a bit of fun going to the different stations and were able to locate Marvels such as Iron Man, the Hulk, and Black Widow.

After we were done shopping and taking photos we even stayed and had a peaceful lunch from the lunch section of the store.

More on Marvel Micropopz at Kroger

By downloading the Kroger! Micropopz app, you’ll be able to see the Micropopz you’ve already collected and search for Marvel Hero’s throughout the store. When you find the augmented reality marker your kids can see the hero come to life! (If I say so myself I found this really cool myself as an adult).

There are 24 Micropopz available to be collected! Are you going to help your kids collect them all?
