Naked Nutrition aims to simplify nutrition with straightforward products. Their protein powders cater to various dietary needs, making them a good option for athletes and casual gym-goers alike.
After conducting my Naked Nutrition protein powder review (Strawberry Cream flavor) I learned protein powders aren’t just for athletes, people drink protein powders daily to aid with their fitness journeys and muscle recovery.
I personally find them to be a convenient way to start the day, end the day, or make sure you don’t overdo it with calories at lunch. If you think it takes to much time to make protein drinks daily, invest in an airtight container, it’s worth it!
Protein powder shakes can be the best way to start or end your day.
You can even put a protein powder shake in the fridge. Read my Naked Nutrition protein powder review below to learn more.

Importance of Proper Powder Storage
Protein powder requires careful storage. Keeping protein powder in a cool, dry place at room temperature is crucial for maintaining its quality. Heat and humidity can damage the product. They can cause clumping and alter the flavor.
Most protein powders have a shelf life of about 1-2 years (always make sure to check the expiration date to know the exact shelf life of your protein powder). However, this can change based on storage conditions. High temperatures can lead to nutrient degradation. This means the protein supplement may not provide the same benefits over time.
Improper storage leads to spoilage. Moisture is a significant factor here. It can create an environment for bacteria and mold to grow. Once mold sets in, it can make the powder unsafe to consume. Contaminated protein supplements may cause health issues.
Using an airtight container is the best way to ensure you’re storing your protein powder properly. They keep the protein supplement fresh for a longer time.
Plastic or glass containers with tight seals work well. They protect against air exposure and humidity, which can lead to bacterial growth. Many brands offer their protein powders in resealable bags. While these are convenient, transferring them to an airtight container extends shelf life. Thankfully, Naked Nutrition ships their protein powders in air-tight containers.
Protein Powder Shelf Life
Most protein powders have a shelf life of 1-2 years. This timeframe applies when the product is stored properly. Proper storage means keeping it in a cool, dry place away from moisture and heat to prevent the growth of bacteria.
Always check the packaging for specific expiration dates. These dates guide you on how long the product remains safe to consume. Consuming protein powder past its expiration date may lead to reduced effectiveness or potential health risks.
To avoid food poisoning it’s important to understand the shelf life of a protein shake AND know the signs that it is spoiled. If the protein powder has unpleasant odors or an unusual texture you should discard it. If you think it may have been exposed to direct sunlight, or high temperatures, you should also er on the side of caution and get rid of it as there could be moisture buildup or bacteria growth.
Best Practices
To maximize freshness, follow these best practices:
- Store protein powder in a cool, dry place.
- Keep containers tightly sealed.
- Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
- Use within recommended time frames for best results.
These steps help maintain the quality of protein and ensure you get the most out of your purchase.
Can You Put a Protein Shake in the Fridge?: Refrigeration Tips for Protein Shakes
Putting a protein shake in the fridge can help prolong its shelf life, however, you want to consume a premade protein shake within 48 hours to receive the most benefits. Protein shakes go bad within 72 hours.
Naked Nutrition’s overnight oats line of protein powders is designed to be made the night before so you can prepare breakfast at night, which is great for people like me who have busy schedules and often skip breakfast.
If you’re worried about whether or not a leftover protein shake in the fridge is safe or not, the answer is yes – in a sealed container leftover protein shakes are safe to drink for two days.
You can prepare a protein shake in advance. If you put your protein powder shake in an insulated container it can stay cold for up to 12 hours. Insulated containers are great for folks who want to make protein shakes in the morning and then store them until lunch. A shaker bottle is another way to keep protein shakes at a cold temperature.
In general, depending on how you store it, a protein powder shake lasts between 2 and 72 hours.
Labeling Containers
When you store protein shakes label containers with preparation dates. This simple step helps track freshness effectively. Knowing when you made the shake allows for better planning. It reduces the chances of consuming spoiled products.
Using a marker or tape on the container works well. Write down the date clearly so it’s easy to read. This practice is especially useful if you prepare multiple shakes at once.
Naked Nutrition Protein Powder Review – Strawberry Cream
I recently got back to having a smoothie each morning and have been actively trying to get back into a healthier lifestyle (watching what I eat, working out daily, etc) as I would love to lose 15-20 lbs by January.
I have started adding Naked Nutrition Protein Powder in Strawberry flavor to my daily routine in my smoothies.
I use Blender Bites for my smoothies currently (super easy to make so you have no excuse to skip your daily smoothie and, in my opinion, my smoothies taste just as good as when I was making them with fresh fruits) and I add in some coconut water with 2 scoops of Naked Nutrition Protein Powder and then I have a delicious protein shake smoothie.
I’ve tried Naked Nutrition whey protein powder in the past and was satisfied. I am also pleased with the strawberry flavor. It mixes in with the smoothie great, doesn’t have a chalky protein powder taste, and has chunks of real strawberries.
My only complaint is it doesn’t come with a scooper, but even that isn’t a huge inconvenience since it tells you the measurements to equal one scoop.
Do you want to incorporate protein powders into your fitness routine, but not sure if you can you afford protein powder on a budget? Naked Nutrition makes it simple by accepting multiple payments that allow you to buy protein powder with FSA/HSA via TrueMed. Plus, I love that there is a Naked Nutrition protein powder discount when you take advantage of their 15% off first-order pop-up discount. They even offer a protein powder subscription discount.
Is a Naked Nutrition protein powder subscription worth it though? In my opinion, you should place your first order as a one-time purchase to make sure it is a good fit for you. Protein powder can be an acquired taste especially if it’s your first time using it. If it works out for you, great – if it doesn’t you’re not potentially stuck with a subscription. (I’m not currently a subscription holder, so I’m unable to speak from personal experience regarding how the subscription cancellation process works.)
Below are some screenshots taken in October 2024 regarding their subscription policy:

Protein Powder Recipe Ideas
Are you new to protein powders and are unsure how to incorporate them into your daily lifestyle? Here are some protein powder recipe ideas:
Smoothies
Protein smoothies can transform your morning routine and, in my opinion, they taste better than meal replacement shakes. Blending naked nutrition protein powder into smoothies, or fruit juice, offers a quick boost of nutritional benefits. Simply mix it with fruits like bananas or berries. Add some spinach for extra nutrients. Use almond milk or yogurt as a base. This combination creates a delicious and healthy drink.
Smoothies are versatile. You can customize them based on your taste. It makes for a satisfying breakfast or snack option.
Baking
Baking with protein powder is another great way to incorporate it into your diet. Muffins and pancakes are popular choices. They can easily include naked nutrition protein powder for extra protein.
For muffins, substitute a portion of the flour with protein powder. This change increases your daily protein intake.
Pancakes also benefit from this addition. Mix protein powder into the batter for fluffy, protein-packed pancakes. Top them with fresh fruit or maple syrup for extra flavor.
Savory Dishes
Protein powder isn’t just for sweet recipes. It can enhance savory dishes too. Adding it to soups or sauces provides an easy way to increase your protein intake.
Try stirring in some unflavored whey protein options to your favorite soup recipe. This addition gives you a creamy texture while boosting the nutritional value.
You can also mix it into pasta sauces or casseroles. This method works well if you’re looking for a great protein option without altering the dish’s flavor significantly.
Do you meal plan? In freezer-safe containers, you can even freeze your protein dish creations to enjoy at a later date.
Snacks
Snacking can be healthier with protein powder as well. Create energy balls by mixing oats, nut butter, honey, and protein powder. These snacks are perfect for pre-or post-workout fuel.
You can also make homemade granola bars using similar ingredients. These bars provide excellent protein and are easy to grab on the go.
Closing Thoughts
Your protein powder deserves the best care. Proper storage and recognizing spoilage are key to keeping your refrigerated protein shake fresh. Refrigeration tips and creative recipes can elevate your shakes, making them enjoyable and nutritious.
Stay proactive about freshness. Regularly check the shelf life of your protein shake and use the right techniques to maintain quality. This not only enhances your health but also maximizes your investment in nutrition.
