As a mom of three going to the spa once a week or once a month is something that is just not possible. However, this doesn’t mean that I don’t take the time to relax. In fact, I create my own spa days at home quite a lot. Today, I am going to share with you some of the ways that I create my own relaxing spa day (or night) at home.
#1 Make Sure the Kids Are Gone or Sleeping
Did a relative take the kids for the weekend or are they hanging out with their other parent for a few hours? If so, it’s the perfect time for you to pamper yourself. You don’t even have to leave the house to do so. AND to be honest, the kids don’t even have to be gone. I have had spa nights before when I am working late and the boys are sleeping.
The key is, to make sure the kids are gone or sleeping because let’s face it, that’s the only way you are going to have uninterrupted pampering.
#2 Make Sure You Have Your Supplies
If you know you want to pamper yourself, make sure that you have your supplies beforehand so you don’t have to make any store runs. You can order basically everything that you could possibly need for your spa day (or night) from a website such as Notino.com. Check out my latest haul from them in my video below.
I personally recommend having a facial mask, lotion, body scrub, your favorite body wash, perfume, lip gloss, mascara, and any other relaxing items that you need to unwind and make yourself feel good.
#3 Start with Your Face
Now, you’ll already know I am in love with my facial masks, so it’s probably no surprise that this is the first thing that I start with when I am pampering myself at home.
Currently, I’m using the Uriage Hyséac Cleaning and Soothing Face Mask for Pore Tightening. With this specific mask, you only leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, but if you prefer, you can use a different mask for a longer time depending on the skin benefits that you are trying to achieve. If you want to get fancy feel free to lay down with some cucumbers on your eyes as well.
#4 Move on to Your Body
Next, when it’s time for me to wash off my facial mask and reveal my smoother skin, I like to just go ahead and jump in the shower with my favorite body wash and body scrub.
Currently, I’m using the Avon Planet Spa Fantastically Firming Body Scrub with Extracts of Coffee. Since it’s a spa day (or night) while in the shower I’ll go ahead and get my shaving out the way as well so I’ll be in there for about 10 or 15 minutes just enjoying the warmth of the water.
Additionally, if you have a towel warmer or remember to warm up some towels in the dryer beforehand, it can be a great experience, especially during the cooler winter months.
#5 Time for Your Feet
I’ll be honest and tell you that during the winter months I don’t pay as much attention to my feet as I do during the summertime. I usually only get professional pedicures at the most once a month. So, during the other weeks, I like to do some basic maintenance at home myself.
Recently, I added the Argan Oil Pack Moisturizer Socks to my routine and I would highly recommend them.
However, before using them, once out the shower, in my shower dress, and with dry feet, I like to use the Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Foot File followed by a pumice stone to try and get my feet in a somewhat smooth position to reap the maximum amount of benefits from the socks.
#6 Get Cute
Either once you are done with your foot routine, or if like me you use some moisturizing socks (put socks over the booties so you can walk more comfortably), while you are waiting for your foot routine to be finished, start getting cute. Yes, even if you don’t plan to go anywhere.
Usually, I don’t wear a ton of makeup, but I will use a mascara such as the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara for Volume and Separation of Lashes that I am wearing in the photo below and my lip gloss.
Recently, I was able to try the Bourjois 3D Effect Gloss Lip Gloss, but it wasn’t glossy enough for me, so I use it as more of a lip balm when around the house (see photo below).
But, once you get cute (even if just for yourself) you will feel better. Trust me I know!
#7 Spray on Perfume
The final way that I end up my spa day (or night) is by spraying on my favorite perfume. Right now, I am in love with the Jimmy Choo Blossom Eau De Parfum Tester for Women and the Bath & Body Works Secret Wonderland Body Spray for Women as they both smell amazing.
Closing Thoughts on Having a Spa Day (or Night) at Home
In my opinion, all women deserve to have a spa day (or night) at home at least once a month at the minimum. It’s a great way to kick back, relax, and pamper yourself. We may not always have time to go to the spa, but that’s okay because it’s cheaper and more relaxing to do it from the comfort of your home.
