Are you giving out too much of your trust when it comes to who you leave your children with?

Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand that parents must work (I’m a work at home mom) and childcare isn’t cheap. However, how well do you really know the person that is babysitting your child?

My oldest son is now 8 and since he was born I have had 1 sitter, 2 in home nannies, and experimented with 2 daycares. I have also interviewed a handful of potential sitters and they just didn’t work out.

When I was in the market for sitters Predictim would have come in handy – finding people who you can trust with your kids isn’t easy and even if they pass the site you may be using backgrounds check it doesn’t mean that they still aren’t a risk for your child.

According to a study by the University of New Hampshire in 2001 4% of the crimes that took place against children under the age of 6 were committed by babysitters.  A few years ago, one of my neighbors was on the news because they had allegedly harmed a child that they were watching.

Therefore, you can’t be to giving when it comes to the trust that you hand out when it comes to your children. However, Predictim could be the answer to going one step further than a traditional background check when it comes to your kids and here’s why recommend that you use them when you’re hiring your child’s next sitter.

#1 You Avoid Hiring a Bully

While background checks will tell you about someone’s criminal background, if they’ve never gotten arrested for a violent crime there is no way for you to know whether someone is a bully or aggressive.

With Predictim, their AI feature can check out your potential sitter’s social media profiles to find red flags.

To see how it worked I ran a scan on my social media profiles to see how risky I was.

#2 You Avoid Putting a Bad Influence Around Your Child

Kids love to mimic behaviors whether they’re good or bad when they are at the ages when they need a sitter. Predictim provides you with insights to let you know if a person is publishing explicit things online, has a bad online personality or even uses drugs.

Now, I know some of you may be thinking it’s not fair to judge someone by their social media profiles. However, the internet gives a ton of people courage to do things that they may not do openly in the world. Therefore, in my opinion, you can learn someone’s real truth from their online profile.

#3 You Can Access How Risky a Person Is

Based on the two categories I recently told you about Predictim can combine all the data to create a risk score for your potential sitter. The meter goes from low risk to high risk. Obviously, those in the green section of the meter would be the ones to consider further.

I like how they have the easy to scan interface so when you are sorting through 20 or more applicants it makes it so you can automatically discard those in the red and continue investigating those in the green to avoid having interviews with people who wouldn’t be a good fit.

I don’t know about you, but I like using my time wisely and Predictim allows parents to do just that while not sacrificing the safety of their children.

#4 Predictim is Quick and Easy to Use

Getting signed up with Predictim is quick and easy. From registering for an account to setting up a single scan you can have the process completed in less than 3 minutes.

All you must do is have the email address of your potential sitters and make a few clicks of the mouse. Once done, just wait for the “Your Report Is Ready” email and then you’re good to go.

It’s scary to think that most of the crimes are actually committed by child care providers. I think it is because children are so vulnerable that they can’t defend themselves yet. It’s so sad.

  2. This came at the perfect time! I am currently in the process of looking for a daycare for my little girl. It is so scary leaving her with people I don’t really know.

  3. Predictim sounds like a great tool for those that need to use sitters. Thankfully I never had to use sitters for my children. I was a stay-at-home mom for both my children’s entire childhood. when they were both in school I worked during school hours only so I could drop them off to school, go to work, then pick them up from school and spend the rest of the day with them. I understand not every parent can do this, so it’s nice to know there is something out there to help these parents find safe reliable sitters to care for their children.

      Michele,

Predictim can be used on teacher too. I mean, how well do we really know the teachers? Sure the school is supposed to do background checks and what not, but how many times have we read in the news about a teacher assaulting a kid. My post was geared towards sitters, but in reality, it can be used for anyone who is in our kid’s lives.

wow that’s something innovative. It’s so beneficial for working parents. Predictim is presently working in which all country?

    1. Yes, I believe it is available in all countries since it’s just doing a social media background check.

  5. This is great information! Nowadays it is so scary to leave your child with strangers, it is great that Preditim can help you find a potential babysitter. I love that it doe a background check for you.

  6. Laura Dove says:

Great advice. We only use our parents as sitters, I would never trust a stranger although I know many have no choice.

  7. It is very important to get to know the stranger that you are trusting to look after your child. It’s always difficult to find a good baby sitter

  8. It’s so important to know who is watching your children, so that they can uphold the same values and discipline as you do…but the process isn’t black and white because no matter how qualified someone is, if they don’t jive with the kids, it doesn’t matter.

  9. This is very innovative to check the babysitter before handing over them your kids. I think if you have to get the sitter, they must pass this checkout. However, it’s still best to do other background and family checks that you can do on your own.

  10. Babysitting is not really big where I am. Mostly, kids are left with their grandparents or the overall maid or househelp. Personally, we couldn’t leave our child with anyone. But this is great news for those who need babysitters. Didn’t know there’s such an app for this.

  11. Fatima Torres says:

With everything you hear in the news and in your local newspaper, it’s not always easy to find a good sitter. I like how this tool shows you risky levels as well.

We don’t use babysitters except for grandparents. We love being with our kids and just simply don’t trust many people with them.
