Wildgrain Review: From Freezer to Table in 25 Minutes

Wildgrain is a monthly food-themed subscription box that includes artisanal bread, pasta, and pastries that are too delicious to resist.

It was founded by Johanna and Ismail who had a mission to replace supermarket bread and pantry staples.

Small-batch bakers and pasta makers across the country partner with Wildgrain to help make their vision a reality.

Their sourdough is one of their most popular items AND for a limited time, Wildgrain is offering free Wildgrain croissants for the life of any new subscription box order.

Additionally, free shipping is available on all orders – no code needed!

You can use the Wildgrain coupon code SAVE10WILDGRAIN to save $10 on your first order.

Recently, I received my first Wildgrain subscription box and I wanted to share my experience with you today.

Now, let’s get started!

Wildgrain Review

What you need to know

Before I get started with my Wildgrain review I wanted to just go over the basics of this food subscription box.

A Wildgrain box costs $89 per month and you have two options:

  • Mixed Box (bread, pasta, and pastries)
  • Bakery Box (bread and pastries)

You can select to have the Wildgrain subscription shipped every 2 weeks, every month, or every six weeks and you have the option to cancel, skip, or reschedule at any time.

Each Wildgrain box is said to provide you with at least 30 servings of food and all included items can be cooked from frozen in 25 minutes or less.

Plus, if your box is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit they will replace it for no additional cost.

Wildgrain Review

After receiving confirmation of my Wildgrain order the subscription box shipped within 3 business days and arrived at my doorstep 2 days later.

The package did contain dry ice, but it was completed melted upon arrival, which was expected as they alerted me ahead of time in an email that when the box arrives it would have little to no dry ice.

The box was very damp from the melting ice, however, the items inside were cool to touch (not frozen though). So, I immediately, put everything in the deep freezer until it was time to cook it.

We are having extremely high temperatures this summer so I’m assuming if you order during the winter and fall the items probably would arrive frozen.

I received the following items:

  • Waffles
  • Croissants
  • Sourdough bread
  • Ciabatta
  • Fettuccine
  • Tonnarelli
  • Cranberry pecan loaf

One thing I do like about the Wildgrain subscription is all of their items can be cooked in less than 30 minutes AND they include clear cooking instructions on the individual items.

So far, we’ve only tried the Cranberry pecan loaf, but the kids loved it (sorry for the lack of photos they started eating it before I had the time to take photos lol) and it was very simple to cook.

Closing Thoughts

If you’re someone who loves bread and pasta the Wildgrain subscription would be a great choice for you. However, if you live in a state that gets high temperatures it may not be the best idea to order during the warmer months.

From what we’ve tried so far the food is of good quality, they ship fairly quickly, and you get a good selection of items.

Additionally, since the Wildgrain box uses clean ingredients you can be confident knowing that you’re getting healthier alternatives to the carbs that you’ll find at your local grocery store.

The box looks so yummy although if it’s better to order during a cooler month it really narrows the window of opportunity down to a few months in the year for a place like Florida!
