Just because you work from home it doesn’t mean that you get to stay in your PJs all day. From video conference calls to running errands and going to the kid’s school, it’s essential that you get dressed every morning because you never know what the day is going to hold.
I’ve been working from home full time for a decade and I cannot remember the last time I was able to work in my pajamas.
Now, it is true that you probably won’t have a set dress code unless you’re working a remote job. However, I have found that over the years there is some work from home clothing essentials that you want to have in your wardrobe.
High Waisted Leggings
75% of the time you’ll catch me in leggings. I have workout leggings, lounging leggings, work leggings, etc….I have leggings for all occasions.
High-waisted leggings are my go-to because they can be paired with a variety of tops, go great with designer tote bags, and they suck in tummy fat.
They’re also great for running errands or when the school calls and I have to go up there. All you have to do is throw on some canvas shoes, grab your bag and keys, and you’re ready to walk out the door.

Blazer
A blazer is another work from home clothing essential due to the fact that they’re great to throw on when you have an unscheduled video conference call that pops up.
Regardless of what type of shirt you’re wearing you can quickly throw on a blazer and transform into a professional state for the call.
I recommend the San Francisco Classic Tailored Blazer. It works great as a work blazer, but also can be used when you’re trying to have a more casual look when you go out.
Joggers
Joggers are similar to leggings but are a bit more comfortable since they’re looser. They are my go-to on days when I know I’m expecting to have a slow day at work and plan to multi-task by tackling a lot of chores around the house.
The Cape Town Slacks on the Go is one of my favorite pairs because they can be dressed up or down to fit in for any occasion.
Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits are comfortable and easy to put on. Plus, if you find the right material, in addition to being a work from home clothing essential, they can also work for lounge days around the house or going out with friends.
They are typically my go-to when I’m running behind in the morning and need something quick and presentable to put on without having to put too much thought into it.
The only downside with jumpsuits is since I’m tall, it can be hard to find ones that are the correct length.
These Work From Home Clothing Essentials Will Have You Prepared For Anything
Just because you work from home it doesn’t mean that you’re able to disregard getting dressed properly each morning.
While it can be tempting to just roll out of bed and get straight to work, you never know what the day holds so it’s best to get dressed right away. It saves you time when something does pop up later in the day, such as a spur-of-the-moment video conference or an unexpected errand.
By having these work from home clothing essentials in your closet you’ll be able to be prepared for anything.
